EP23: Minimalism with a Newborn

On this week’s episode, we’ll be discussing minimalism with a newborn. We talk about what you need and don’t need when bringing your little one home.

Essentials:
Diapers
Place to sleep
Food
Clothing
Don’t go overboard. My little one was born at nine pounds. Won’t be in newborn clothes for very long.
Blankets
Soap
Car Seat

Next Up:
Place to rest – swing, bouncer, mat, pack n play
Wrap
Monitor
Thermometer

Take it or leave it:
Burp cloths
Changing station
Diaper bag (talked about in our purse episode)
Nursing pillow

Ways to Save:
Breastfeeding
Registry
Share with friends/family
Older items later (save for?)

Invest in:
Stroller
Monitor
Wrap
Hand pump

Other quick tips:
– All the baby blankets/bibs/towels can be things you already have or you can buy used.
– You don’t necessarily have to invest in a stroller right away – carriers are quite helpful until kiddos are bigger.
– Books/toys are bought second hand easily, just make sure you sanitize them.

What are your thoughts? Should our essential list include other items? We’d love to hear from your perspective! Let’s keep the conversation going on our Facebook page or Instagram!
